A set of new Vermont-based videos immerses viewers in the world of musical theater.
Charmers is an original series of short musical films featuring somewhat retro song and dance performances, each about four minutes long.
The concept is based on Soundies of the 1940’s which were the precursor to today’s music videos.
Charmers was conceived by Joshua Sherman, who, believe it or not, has a day job as an internist at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
Sherman grew up in a theatrical family, and believes Internet video to be a great delivery system for future artists hungry for musical content.
He also sees a correlation between being the discipline needed to be a doctor and the attention to detail required in "putting on a show'.
VPR's Neal Charnoff spoke with Dr. Sherman about his work.
